We recently introduced mia cara's four-year-old son to Friendship is Magic, and as it turns out, he really loves it. In fact, he loves it so much, he's been identifying people he knows with FiM characters.
He himself is Rainbow Dash, which fits nicely. He's brave, lively and energetic, sometimes too much so for his own good.
Mia cara is Princess Luna. Also very fitting--calm, intelligent, and with a Tantabus inside her that I wish I could teach her to cope with. And she is a MAJOR Luna fan.
Mia cara's best friend, whom I've never met (she lives on the other side of the country) is Fluttershy. She, apparently, is quite shy in real life.
And me?
I'm Steven Magnet.
Apparently it's the hair.
We shall overcome. Actually, you guys can overcome without me for a while. I think I need to lie down.

Hi there everyone ... sorry I haven't been around lately.
There is a good reason, though. Test season. And this semester, I've actually had papers and essays to write, rather than just written tests to cram for. I still have three essays and a portfolio outstanding, but after that, I hope to get back in the swing of dingoids.
And with GalaCon coming up, I really need to get up to speed on FiM episodes ... yep, test season cuts into that, too. As does work.
Actually, I was intending to watch a couple last night, but the first one I went for was Slice of Life (the #100 episode) and ...

Finally, for once ... I feel that the United States has lived up to its ideals.
A big pat on the back to the Supreme Court for recognizing that love is love, and that the institution of marriage needs to be extended to be just for everyone.
I'm kind of out of words, and time, right now, so I'll just close this entry and remind you all ...
We shall overcome!
The future, the future ...
I've moved!
I'm now living in student accomodation, in a central part of the town where I'm studying. I have a smallish furnished room, and only a short way to go to the bus (and heroin dealing, but that's another story) centre. I am closer to mia cara, which we're both very happy about.
And I have no internet connection. Yes, you knew there had to be a downside ...
What this means is that I have to do all my internet business via a university computer, which in turn means I'll have to use the time I have wisely. However, it also means that my main source of evening procrastination will be gone, so I might get a) more uni work and b) MOAR
Congratulations, Ireland
Yesterday, 62% of the people of the Republic of Ireland voted in favour of changing their constitution to give same-sex couples the ability to marry, and for those marriages to be on a legal par with man/woman marriages.
Well done, Ireland. Very well done.
We arrived in the Third Millennium fifteen years ago, and yet homophobia continues to be widespread--not just in countries where other forms of modern civilization, like a stable democratic process or a (generally) corruption-free police force, have yet to emerge, but also in industrial nations (I'm looking at you, United Sporks of Amoogaboink) that should really know better.
